INTRO

Build the structure your book plan, book proposal, or book outline needs before a single chapter is written.

The 1:1 Framework Builder sessions are hands-on, 2-hour working sessions designed to create ease, guidance, and momentum — so you leave with a working framework built specifically around your book, your audience, and your publishing path and goals. Offerings are split into three track session areas you can choose from. (1) For those going after a traditional book deal or hybrid publishing opportunity, we help build the framework for a strong book proposal. (2) For those looking to successfully self-publish, we help build the framework for a solid book plan. And (3) for authors, regardless of path, who are ready to lock down a polished, detailed book outline that jumpstarts a promising manuscript writing phase. The book outline frameworks built in this session can also be used in your book proposal or book plan.

Application approval required before booking an appointment for this session.

WHO THIS IS FOR

The Framework Builder is for nonfiction authors who are clear on their idea and ready to build — not brainstorm. It’s for you if:

  • You’ve developed your book concept and you know your publishing direction
  • You need a book proposal built and don’t know where to start or how to make it agent-ready
  • You’re self-publishing and need a real business plan for your book before you invest in production and launch
  • You need your book’s architecture mapped out chapter by chapter so you can actually write it — with structure, argument, and through-line intact
  • You’re serious about doing this right the first time — not piecing together a framework from generic templates you found online

If you’re still developing your concept or unclear on your publishing direction, the Idea Developer session is the right starting point. Come back to the Framework Builder when you’re ready to build.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Choose your track — Every Framework Builder session is built around one of three tracks: Track A – Traditional Book Proposal, Track B – Self-Publishing Book Plan, Track C – A Must-Read Book Outline. Choose the track below that fits your publishing path and where you are right now.
  • Submit your application — Complete the Framework Builder application via the link here. Select your track, tell us about your book, and upload any existing material. Applications are reviewed within 3–4 business days.
  • Receive your approval and booking link — If your application is approved Nakia will email you directly with your private booking link and any pre-session preparation instructions specific to your track.
  • Confirm your session and pay your deposit — Select your date and time via your private booking link. A 50% deposit is due at booking to confirm your session date.
  • Prepare for your session — Nakia reviews your application and uploaded materials before your session date. You’ll receive a brief pre-session email with anything specific to have ready on the day of your call.
  • Show up and build — Join your Zoom session at your scheduled time. We work through your framework together — live, in real time.
  • Receive your deliverables — Within 24-48 hours (during business hours) of your session you’ll receive your framework document with all session notes incorporated — plus your session recording.
  • Schedule your follow-up session — After reviewing your framework document, schedule your included 45-minute follow-up session using the private link sent with your deliverables.

TRACK A — TRADITIONAL BOOK PROPOSAL

$1,500 · 2-Hour Working Session + 45-Min Follow-up · Application Required (50% deposit due at booking)

What it is

For authors pursuing a traditional publishing deal or hybrid publishing opportunity. A book proposal is the document that gets you in the room with literary agents and publishers — and it has to be exceptional to compete. In this session we build the bones of your proposal together, live, in real time. By the end of the session you’ll have a working proposal framework covering:

  • Book overview and hook
  • Market positioning and opportunity
  • Comparable titles analysis
  • Target audience breakdown
  • Author platform and credibility
  • Chapter-by-chapter summary framework
  • Marketing and promotion plan outline
What’s included
  • 2-hour 1:1 working session with Nakia via Zoom
  • Live Google Doc collaboration during the session
  • Your proposal framework document — built during your session and delivered polished within 5 business days
  • Downloadable book proposal template with your session notes incorporated
  • Session recording
  • Video recap with literary agent advice
  • One 45-minute follow-up session to review your completed framework and map your next steps

Note: The proposal framework session establishes your book’s structure and positioning. When you’re ready to develop your chapter-by- chapter outline in detail that’s where the Book Outline track becomes your natural next step.

TRACK B — SELF-PUBLISHING BOOK PLAN

$1,500 · 2-Hour Working Session + 45-Min Follow-up · Application Required (50% deposit due at booking)

What it is

For authors publishing independently. A self-publishing book plan is the indie equivalent of a book proposal — a real business plan for your book that gives your project structure, discipline, and direction before a dollar is spent on production or launch. In this session we build your complete self-publishing framework together, live, in real time.

By the end of the session you’ll have a working book plan covering:

  • Book concept and positioning
  • Target audience and reader profile
  • Competitive landscape and market opportunity
  • Book structure and content overview
  • Production roadmap — editorial, design, formatting
  • Distribution strategy and platform selection
  • Pricing approach
  • Launch framework and timeline
What’s included
  • 2-hour 1:1 working session with Nakia via Zoom
  • Live Google Doc collaboration during the session
  • Your self-publishing book plan document — built during your session and delivered polished within 5 business days
  • Downloadable self-publishing book plan template with your session notes incorporated
  • Session recording
  • One 45-minute follow-up session to review your completed plan and map your next steps

Note: The book plan framework establishes your self-publishing strategy and structure. When you’re ready to develop your chapter-by-chapter outline in detail the Book Outline track is your natural next step.

TRACK C — A MUST-READ BOOK OUTLINE

$2,500 · 2-Hour Working Session + 45-Min Follow-up · Application Required (50% deposit due at booking)

What it is

For authors who are ready to build the full architecture of their book — chapter by chapter, argument by argument, section by section. A strong outline is what separates books that get written well from books that stall out halfway through or lose their reader by chapter three. This is the most intensive Framework Builder track and requires the most preparation from both of us.

Before the session Nakia reviews your submitted material — existing notes, chapter ideas, manuscript pages, research, or anything else you’ve developed so far — so we can build from what you already have rather than starting from scratch. The more you bring, the more we can accomplish.

In the session we use a combination of Milanote (visual whiteboard) and Google Doc to map your book’s full architecture — chapter by chapter, with your argument, structure, through-line, and narrative arc all working together.

By the end of the session you’ll have a working outline covering:

  • Book concept and central argument or premise
  • Part and chapter structure
  • Chapter-by-chapter breakdown — what each chapter covers, argues, or achieves
  • Opening and closing chapter strategy
  • A writing schedule to carry you forward
What’s included
  • Pre-session material review by Nakia
  • 2-hour 1:1 working session via Zoom
  • Live Milanote whiteboard + Google Doc collaboration during the session
  • Your chapter-by-chapter outline document — built during your session and delivered polished within 5 business days
  • Downloadable book outline template with your session notes incorporated
  • Your personalized writing schedule
  • Session recording
  • One 45-minute follow-up session to review your completed outline and map your next steps
What to upload with your application

When your application is accepted for any Framework Builder track you’ll have the opportunity to upload existing material related to your book. (This is not required, but it is strongly recommended.) For this Book Outline track submitting material in advance is especially important. We review all uploaded content before your session to ensure we can build your full outline architecture during our two hours together
